Introduction
As many of you know TRS stands for Threat Response Systems, an enterprise that sells "Reality" Based Self Defense Tapes teaching you "the street deadly". Their talent consists of military and ex-military types, with some ex-cons thrown in. Yes, they were the people who produced Dan Webre's tapes! Anyway since I'm on their mailing list, they recently sent me an e-mail regarding one of their other prison fighters. One James Painter, who did his Federal time for possession of a sawed off shotgun.
We've previously reviewed James' Tape. It's okay, and does not approach the level of suckatude reached by "Deadly Jailhouse Fighting Secrets" but still its nothing to write home about. You can see the TRS advertisement here: [1]
The E-Mails
So on October 11, 2006 I received the following e-mail.
Subject: ... Rock n Roll prison fighting system is out... Date: 10/11/2006 7:56:38 PM Pacific Daylight Time From: support@trsdirect.com Reply To: To: [my e-mail address omitted] James Painter prays that you never have to face prison time. It's filthy, cramped and full of ugly thugs who want nothing more than to hurt and humilate you.

So because I wanted to be the most feared person in my [Chat]room, I wrote TRS back with a question on October 12, 2006:
"Hi Bob: Thank you for sending me information on James Painter, I do enjoy viewing your prison fighting tape series. But in your letter you mention that James had recently gotten out of prison. Since I thought he did his time a number of years ago, has he been rearrested and done time again?
Please tell me.

The same day (October 12, 2006) Bob Pierce, Mr. TRS wrote back:
"Sam: No James has not, to my knowledge, been arrested again! The promotion is just referring to the one time that this unfortunate situation took place some time ago.

So I responded on October 12, 2006:
"Hi Bob:
I'm quite glad that James is not in prison again. Its nice to see someone go straight, especially with the high recitivism rates. I hope he's doing well. But why did you say that he had recently gotten out, when thankfully this happened years ago?

Bob never did reply to this e-mail.
Analysis and Conclusion:
As you can see in the attached copy of James Painter's prison record. [1] James got out of Federal Prison, IN LATE 1993!!!! There is nothing recent about his release at all. So instead of starting out his letter by talking about a seminar James had taught recently, Bob Pierce decided to "pimp" his talent by saying that this person had "recently" got out of the slammer when James has been out for over a decade. You know, I would understand if James wanted to go back in occasionally, to see Skip, to practice ripping someones genitals apart like he shows on his tape, to catch up on the old times, but evidently he hasn't. Bob seems embarrassed to admit that this whole episode didn't happen recently. Now, I don't blame James, he probably didn't get consulted before Pierce or one of his underlings wrote this latest sales letter, but it will just show you what TRS will say to push product, which is anything. Just ask Dan Webre. :)
