Marcelo Garcia is known as one of the top jiu jitsu and submission grappling fighters in the world. He has five world championship titles in BJJ, two of them as a black belt (2004 and 2006), and many submission titles. He is probably most famous for his performance at the ADCC, where Marcelo not only won his weight category three times in a row (2003 / 2005/ 2007), but also was awarded most technical fighter in 2003 and 2007, and won the award for best fight in 2005 (taking third place in the absolute division). At the 2007 ADCC Marcelo submitted all his opponents but the final of the absolute, winning 2nd place in the absolute division.
