Sweep (Grappling)
From The Martial Arts Encyclopedia
(Redirected from Sweep)
A sweep is a grappling technique in which the bottom combatant, who has the top combatant in his or her guard, takes his or her opponent into a position advantageous to the bottom combatant, typically mount, side mount, or rear mount. Most sweeps start in open guard, though it is possible to perform sweeps from virtually every guard position.
Common sweeps are the scissor sweep, elevator sweep, flower sweep, ankle sweep, butterfly sweep, and hook sweep.
